Avarice VS Linden Rathan

Avarice moved into the training grounds after gathering together her equipment. Her small slender frame was clad in a white tunic with a pair of dark blue puffy paints, aka a Momo. Strapped to her back was a massive katana, tucked within her belt were two psi's. Her long black hair was pulled back into a tight braid and pinned up with steel sticks to keep it from moving around to much. Her sapphire blue eyes were cold like ice as they peered forward.

Moving to the center of the grounds she stood in a stiff posture awaiting her opponent, Linden to finally arrive.

*A huge shape rose up from the stands closest to the royal box, with a slight chink chink sound that only the finest armor makes when brushing against itself it made its way towards the center to meet Avarice. It was Linden.

He wore his hair loose, it had grown long and now hung straight to his collarbone, dark of hue but silvered at the temples... it billowed slightly in the breeze that swept through the grounds revealing a small amulet the size of a penny suspended tightly around his neck with the clan crest embossed on it. That was all he wore above his waist, for from neck to his middle he was bare, cold sweat glistening along the jagged planes and angles of his muscular torso.

From waist down he was armored to his toes in ornately carved plates. To these were strapped two Keshanberks - long handled, long bladed swords - the hilt guard replaced instead with twin crescents sharpened parallel to the blade like an axe.

He carried two large shields that extended from his neck to his thigh when held up... his grip on them seemed loose, they seemed to sway no matter how he moved his hands.. the tips always pointing down.

He made his last step and faced avarice... releasing one of the shields - it floated as he did.. the hand that held it glowing a very slight hue of blue as he reached up and tied his hair back with a piece of cloth that was in his hand. He did so, and released his hair taking up the shield once more..*

"Well met..."

*He spoke voice deep*

"I propose a fight of only steel. Do you accept?"

"Accepted" Was all that was said as her form turned slightly to the left. With a slow blink of her sapphire eyes, she moved one hand to the psi at her right while her left hand lifted to pulll the overly large katana from its sheath attached to her back. With her feet spread shoulder length apart, her head turned faintly obviously preparing to take on the task of fighting Linden in close combat.

It would be noticable that by her stance, her posture, and the seriousness on her face this task was something she knew all to well how to endure. Standing as a samurai prepped to fight in a one on one battle. It would be very clear that she wore no armor, it was either because she didn't own any or she did not fear being stricken with a weapon.

Once again her voice sprang forth as she spoke a simple word, "Begin"

*She had barely finished closing her mouth after the pronouncing of the 'n' in begin when Linden surged forward. The shields he wore twisted, kite shields that they were the tips sharpened like a wide blade's double edge.. the tips pointed towards her and braced in that position, right hand forward.. left hand back slightly pointing both tips at her.

Dispite his armored lowered body, his movement was quick enough, his steps were few but his flow fast and seamless. He thundered towards her, not leaning forward too much, but coming hard.*

Those sapphire blue eyes stared at Linden as he charged at her. Though he was much larger then her in size, she did not flinch or move a single muscle; at least for the moment anyway. Her eyes were sizing up Linden's little shields along with the rest of him. Even in the brief moments she was able to register some of the information required to handle what to do next. As Linden closed in on her, she finally moved at the last second.

The katana she held was twisted to a blocking position as she plucked her psi from her belt to hold it up as a back up against the katana. Her small frame took a slight step back to brace herself from the impact that was about to occur from Linden's charge.

*The right shield tilted a bit, inwardly he was unsure if he could hit the apex of her defense with the tip of his bladed shield, but he hit hard with the force he delivered gathered by his charge.. then using the recoil from the blow, swing the right shield back creating the momentum needed to drive his left shield down then up in an uppercutting strike towards where her psi and Katana were joined, aiming to seperate them, or at least make her slip in her defense, before continuing on with the movement of the uppercut, bringing the shield around her as she spun all the way around on his heel closing his elbows to defend his back as he did.. and then delivered the same left shield towards her lower left abdomen, and just behind it, the right hard towards her right shoulder. *

It would come as a shock to Linden that the recoil he had hoped would aid in knocking of her defense was negated. With Avarice's stance as it was prior to the clash, her foot was angled back to prevent any force from moving her. Avarice may not have been a draconian any longer, but what she was is just as equally strong, and this is something Linden would now realize. The only movement that was caused from the clashing was the ground beneath Avarice's feet crushing under the combined strength of Linden's force and Avarice's refusal to budge from her position.

As the shield came through with the uppercutted strike at her weapons, she shoved them forward to absorb the blow. Causing the psi to purposely slip a few inches down the katana's blade to reinforce its defense. She moved her body so that her weapons were adjusted to block the blow of the second shield as her leg swung up to slam her knee into Linden's knee. She was partially copying his moves, just without the assistance of the shields.

Finally as the last move was made to strike her shoulder, she dropped to the ground narrowly avoiding the hit. With her weapons beneath her, it put her in a rather prone position, or so it seemed. Rolling outward away from Linden, she kept her weapons close to her body till she was out of the close combat range. Her legs lifted as she kicked herself up from the ground like a trained martial artist would do. Her body moved to get back into a defense stance as her head tilted to the right. "Please tell me you can do better then that."

*He didn't what kind of fool slammed her knee into full plate plate armor especially at the often jagged edge of the knee segment where it joined the the thigh plate... but oh well...

He hadn't moved his body from the stance of the last attack, his arms were still extended and his face still in the position it was... he remained in that whilst she opened her mouth to taunt before straightening again and lowering his shoulders to his sides.

He tilted his own head..*

"Well then attack... what, those knives too heavy for you?"

*He lifted his shields again, but as he did, his hips were bare of the keshanberks that were there before.. he raised the left shield up in front of him in a defensive stance, the other mimicked the same attack stance of his first strike, up, parallel to the ground pointed at her..*

"So says the faessi wearing armor" She recanted with as her body weight was shifted to go into an offensive stance. Her eyes scanned over his appearance, assessing the way he stood and how his shields were. After a moment of silence and assessing, she began to move slowly towards him but also to circle around to the right. Figuring he would need to move to adjust his defenses to keep her from getting behind him.

The sharp sound of blades scraping gave way to her pulling the katana and psi apart. Twisting the psi so the blade was against her forearm she adjusted the position of the katana to be at a lower angle. Its blade barely touching the ground. She was preparing to attack him, but she was also biding her time while undertaking her assessment. Avarice was not a stupid fighter, regardless of what some may thing with the use of her knee against the thigh plate.

*Linden said nothing... didn't move... instead he lowered his shields so they were resting in the dirt, though his hands were still behind them, his eyes closed... but his head followed her every move.. her every feign.. there was a line between cowardice and caution. The light knew there were many young fools who could distinguish between them..

As she moved beyond the angle of his head's turn.. he hanged his head slightly.. taking deeper breaths.. and began to hum a very low sound... most animals in the grounds watching.. including those sentients of lupine blood would be able to hear him quite shrilly.. but to any other human it would just a low hum....

His hands seemed to be clenching and unclenching.. the muscles in his bare arms, toned and tuned and hairless moved about.. even as he hanged his head.. his seemed to stand up a bit straighter... his feet seemed to be less planted into the ground than before...

But he did not move.

Avarice let out a soft growl of annoyance to the humming, did Linden forget she wasn't really human. That sound was rather unpleasant to her ears, it only envoked a little bit of anger within her. Though she was not going to allow that to effect her fighting abilities, after a second she brushed it off as she blocked out all sounds. As she got to a position behind Linden, she came to a stop her eyes focused upon his body watching as he stood there.

Lifting her hand with the psi in it, she rose it to aim at Linden. With a trained hand and skillful eye she suddenly threw the psi at Linden with a fierceful force behind it.

Now, should Linden hear the psi going through the air and turn. Or should he not, either way....

Avarice was charging Linden only a step or two right behind the psi itself. Her katana angled straight across to be used like a staff to slam into Linden and take him down. She was quite fast, obvious by her keeping only a few steps behind the psi which was thrown at a high rate of speed.

*The humming was doing its secondary purpose well, it seemed to silence the lower noises and bring the higher pitched noises well into his senses.. but he didn't stop it just yet. He heard the Sai coming, could hear here steps mingling with its whistling through the air... it wasn't a dart, the Sai, it would have turned slightly... or spun through the air at him.

Linden spun like a whirlwind with shields still attached to his arm, turning to the right; the Sai would strike the jagged ornate gilding on his shield and ricochet into another direction.. his other shield came right up on his left.. but his hand extended.. The left shield hanging of it.. but the Keshanberk was extended also, pointing right at Avarice's jugular, tilted slightly such that if she continued her strike... her Katana would slam into his right shield and be pushed against his chest... but she would be skewered through the neck with his swordpoint..*

Avarice continued on her charge, there was only one small deviation of it and that was when she pulled her weapon to rest against her chest as she dropped to the ground; just merely a foot from Linden. Using the momentum of her running speed she slid across the ground to slam her feet into Linden's knees. She'd knock his feet out from under him if she could.

*Linden took the blow, his right knee moving forward hard in the last moment to take the blow and hit back jarringly at her feet, it buckled his knees and drove his footing harder into the dirt, but his armor made him too bottom heavy for his legs to swept out from under him.

His right leg moved back, the knee flexing a bit as he gathered some of his weight to bring his right shield came down hard towards her, the sharpened edge coming for her middle, the keshanberk in his left hand flashed in the light as it swung towards her exposed neck..

Avarice twisted her weapon so that the blade would lay flat against her to block the sharpened edge of the shield as it came down onto her. The clanging of metal on metal could be heard then. Moving just enough to avoid a major blow to her neck, she allowed the keshanberk to stab into her flesh. Her eyes reflected the pain though her face didn't show any emotion.

Her hand came out of no where and attempted to cold cock Linden right across his face for stabbing her in the throat. Mean while, her knee jerked upwards to give him a knee to his... crotch. No one said this would be a fair fight, did they?

*The blow to the face stunned for a split second, now allowing him to lift his blade out of the slash but instead getting Linden's left keshanberk buried its tip into the ground after moving past and through Avarice's flesh wound the jarring movement bringing him back to his senses; he brought his right leg forward just as he took the knee to the Jewels, the armored and gilded plate over it however would prevent her from getting a direct blow hard enough to cripple (which would have certainly happened had he not been armored from waist down).. the blow jarred his leg from the knee he would have given in return, but instead he let it sink hard trying to pin her, his weight behind it using the Keshanberk in the ground to push towards her as well, the gilding on the knee and shin brace trying to grip onto her flesh as he brought it down..

The right shield he held in place but loosened the grip he had on it, the forearm lock that let his shields rotate on his arms loosened also allowing him to release the other Keshanberk he had hidden behind it, and bring its edge reversed towards her middle. Not to wound, but to pin her and call her to yield, but the blade angled as such, that should it be thrusted or should she try to move away or towards it, would skewer her from upper abdomen through the pelvis*

With her weapon angled as it was, all she did was move her one hand that still had a hold of it to push the edge of it. She would also twist it at the same time so that the blade arc'd upward towards Linden, since it was between them and didn't manage to block the keshanberk from stabbing her abdomen. Though she was stabbed in two places, and was bleeding quite a bit she didn't relent. Her face twisted as her lips curled into a sadistic grin, though her eyes were showing the truth about her pain.

Her leg moved so that her knee would bend causing her calf to wrap around Linden's calf when he brought in his leg to help hinder the blow to his crotch. With her leg wrapped around his leg, she began to bend her knee. Trying to force his leg to bend the opposite direction it was meant to be bent.

The hand that hit his face, grasped onto his hair and tugged his face closer to hers. Now one would think she was about to kiss him, but hell no, she actually attempted to bite his nose.

*Lindens knee unbent under her force and began to straighten, but was stopped from going any further than possible by the armor, the overlapping brace covering his shin digging into the thigh plate causing growing discomfort...

Right hand on the Kesh in her abdomen gripped hard on the handle, burying it another inch into her flesh to try and make her falter, he pulled it out, twisting the blade as he did to catch her Katana in the hilt and push it down towards her side to try bury the Keshanberk's blade into the ground at her left, thereby pulling the katana away from cleaving him in two. There he let his shield slip from his arm over the blade using half of his weight to hold his sword and hers down away form him.

As she took hold of his hair... damn it he should have done something about that hair of his and brought him close... he didn't resist, in fact just before she came to his nose he flicked his head up and did kiss her.. disarmingly and deeply.. all in an effort to either catch her off guard, disgruntle her or at least shock her enough to relent and to allow him to attempt to release his right Keshanberk and bring his deft hands to her neck, thumb at a pressure point, index finger and middle pressing slightly into the fresh wound, and pushing her down towards the floor; his left hand trying to bring the Keshanberk back towards her, reversed grip to hover above her neck*

Avarice continued to bend her leg trying to force the metal to break or cause even MORE discomfort to him.

So she was disarmed, or at least her weapon was moved away from him to prevent any further usage at least for now. Her gut was bleeding even more with the blade out of it.

Sapphire eyes blinked when Linden kissed her, her fingers gripped tightly into his hair. She snapped at his lips, grasping his bottom lip between her teeth. Just cause he kissed her didn't mean that'd stop her from biting him. She just bit his lip instead, and she continued to bite as she pulled on his hair to pull his head up from near hers. Biting harder as he fumbled around for her pressure point, she was going to rip his lip off.

Her hand on her katana moved to place the blade of it against his side, in the small crevous between his armor plating. As she allowed him to move the keshanberk to hover over her neck.

*Linden knew that was going to happen... he wasn't sure why even knowing that it would, continued anyway. He could taste the blood from his lip and it dripped onto her face, he could feel the blade in his bare side begin to bite and draw blood.

He brought his left Keshanberk down and let it touch skin... the sharp steel touched her wound and slid across very slightly to bring the hilt, the pointed part of the axe edge of the hilt against her neck, the sword now touch it in two places, the blade against one of her veins, the tip in that pressure point he had found.. his right hand moved away, finding her hand and trying to push it and the blade away from him...

His right knee disabled by her leg.. he brought his left knee towards her other wound and applied pressure to it...

He brought his mouth closer to hers to avoid his lips being torn off... he spoke a command to her.. no.. more a suggestion, his words and proximity was almost like one lover speaking to another amidst a bout of kisses... but of course discounting the blood, the steel and the teeth involved in this little... conflict.

A menacing growl was released, which caused her throat to vibrate against the blade that touched her neck. The sharpness of the blade caused her skin to peel open when she growled, the corners of her lips remained twisted in that sadistic smirk. "You", was all that was said, and it was barely even spoken, mostly growled out. With his lip still captured between her teeth, she bit harder. She would continue to bite to the point her teeth would either rip open his lip from going through the skin or till he yielded.

As his leg was brought up to her wound she grimaced, and applied more pressure to his other leg in the attempt to snap or break it.

The tip of her weapon which was placed at his side began to bite at it as she drove the tip into his flesh. She would move it to slip just an inch within his flesh.

*A voice boomed out over the Training ground in anger. Atara had wa tched and recorded the necessary amount of moves for the judges but had let them fight on, seeing as many here like to train but now it was going too far*

*Linden's swords were lifted.. and removed, though he could have severed her head in a stroke by accident if he moved fast.. so he did so slowly.. extending the blades out to the sides.. before deftly and with dignity sheathing them at his hips.

He remained in his position, waiting for her to release him*

Upon the removal of the weapon from her neck she pulled her blade from within his side, followed by the release of his lip from within her teeth, and finally his leg. She let her katana drop to the ground next to her body where she just laid there, her head tilted so that she could look towards Atara. After a moment of just laying there, her hands moved to shove Linden off of her so that she could get up.

Her eyes grimaced in pain as she rolled to a kneeling position, one hand on the ground the other over her wounded abdomen. Teeth gritted within her mouth before a deep breath was taken in. Resting there in that position for several minutes she seemed to either be in meditation or lost conciousness.

*Linden's size and shape meant her shove did little more than move him into his a standing position, which he grounded both his shields and stood at attention, one arm behind his back, sweat glistening on his bare chest and abdomen, shining in the light amidst the blood at his side*
